Use Your Floor And Walls To Create A Piece Of Furniture.

The knitted pillows are hanging from hooks on the wall and a big mat on the floor makes the sitting very comfortable. Furthermore, when you use floor height as your resting area you move your body more than with conventional furniture. It might not seem like a lot, but by moving up and down from the floor a couple of times every day, joints and muscles will actually be strengthened. And do it every day you will be able to do it when your are 90.
The materials are vegetable tanned leather, organic wool, organic kapok and walnut.

Christina says, “In my work I keep simplifying untill there is nothing more than there need to be for the piece to function, often using materials as wood and wool. I am interested in showing the materials properties and the decorative elements should derive from the functionality itself.”

She lives in Copenhagen, Denmark

Wonderfully Snug & Comfy Cradle Chair!

According to Richard Clarkson, who appears to be one of the designers “We have called our rocking chair “cradle” as is epitomises what the chair is all about. It is about creating a safe, comfortable and relaxing enviroment in which the user can dissipate the overstimulation of their senses. The design was heavily directed by a synthesis of research into Autisim and children with Rythmic Movement Disorder (RMD) as well as saftey, sustainability, function and aesthetics. The chair adheares to the concept “if you design for the extremes and the middle will sort itself out,”  while we had a stong focus creating a solution for sufferers of RMD the chair is not exclusively for them and will bring relaxation, comfort and calmness to homes with this desirable chair.

The chair references Ikea funiture ideaology and is designed to be a flatpack; minimising packaging and transportation waste. Cradle is manufactured from reusable and environmentally friendly raw materials including the glue used to form the intial plywood layers.

The ‘Cradle’ rocking chair is more than just a solution to a problem, it is literally a home within a home.”

Get Drunk And Creative!

Re-Wine by Taiwanese design company Miniwiz is a clever design that transforms from a reusable, biodegradable carrying case for your wine into a lamp shade that uses the empty bottle as the base. If you’re not looking for a new lamp, the case also has interlocking joints that allow it to be connected to other units to form a custom seat, table or shelf. The more wine you drink, the more modules you have for building lamps or other furniture!
