Solar And Wind-Powered Pendant Lamp

Ikea‘s new Solvinden lamp translates from Swedish as “Sun Wind,” as those are the two elements that power it. The cordless LED lamp is charged by a combination of the lampshade, which rotates in a breeze, and the sun’s rays hitting the solar panel on the top. The solar panel contains a sensor that swiches the lights on when it’s dark outside. Retail price $29.99.

Need To Show Some Field Candy?

FieldCandy is an exciting design-led brand of tents. They have injected colour, creativity and fun into the camping space by offering a range of totally unexpected designs.  The average tent isn’t fun, they all look the same, a tent should say something about who’s inside it, tents should be fun, exciting, iconic, individual and simply unmissable.  The flysheets are printed by a leading hi-definition printer, using fabric manufactured in the UK. The printed fabric is then machined to exacting specifications. The aluminum tent poles and pegs are manufactured using an innovative acid-free process that is much less environmentally damaging than conventional methods. The zips and other fixings and fittings are made by the world’s leading zip supplier.

Inspired by the elegant form of the samurai sword by the same name, the Odachi Folding Bike by Nick Domanski can fold into itself and be worn on the user’s back much in the same way as the sword would be worn. Alternatively, it can also be pulled on the ground alongside the user. Made from bamboo fiberboard, the bike is both extremely strong and relatively lightweight.

Who Needs a Skateboard – Get A Sporthocker!

This sport is either referred to as ‘Sporthocker’ or just ‘Hockern’ for short, and involves the use of a specially designed stool called a ‘Hocker’ that one performs tricks with. Think of it as a mix between skateboarding and juggling, and … sitting. The easiest way to understand it is to simply watch the video.

Sleep In A Hanging Tent

If you’re into doing extreme sports such as rock climbing, it seems reasonable that you’d also be into sleeping in an extreme way. This hanging tent should fit the bill. The tent is designed not to sit on the ground, but to hang from a branch or an overhang, letting you sleep when there’s no flat ground around. You’ll need to have a whole lot of faith in the rope and general construction of this thing, but I suppose on the bright side it’ll make it a lot harder for animals to eat you while you sleep.

Dutch nature lover and part-time sculptor and designer Dre Vadrenaar has come up with a slightly different version! Which is much closer to the ground. (This tent was his creature was designed to make life easier for British activists Road Alert Group, which fought against the excessive construction of roads, passing through the few forested areas left in England)
