The cinema of Japan (日本映画 Nihon eiga?) has a history that spans more than 100 years. Japan has one of the oldest and largest film industries in the world – as of 2009 the fourth largest by number of feature films produced.[1] Movies have been produced in Japan since 1897, when the first foreign cameramen arrived. Notable films from the Japanese film industry are: Tokyo StorySeven SamuraiUgetsuIkiruGodzilla, among many others. In a ranking of the best films produced in Asia by the Sight & Sound British film magazine, Japan made up 8 of the top 12, with Tokyo Story being ranked number one. In the United States, Japan has won the Academy Award for the Best Foreign Language Film 4 times, again more than any other country in Asia. (Courtesy Wikipedia)

Japanese movie posters are very different in their design ethos, and for us with our western sensibilities, very unique in their content.  We have some for you to take a loom at and send us any comments.

the pictures on this blog loading? I’m trying to determine
if its a problem on my end or if it’s the blog. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.
